Prepare Employees for Winter Sports Activities

With the winter sports season upon us it is worth remembering that an ill prepared winter sports enthusiast is more likely to suffer injury on the slopes and be prevented from returning to work at the end of their holiday.

It could be to an employers advantage to remind their employees of the need to prepare for energetic holidays Steve Halsall a celebrity fitness trainer.

“We can’t simply go from an urban lifestyle to an intense period of physical activity in a very different environment, it is essential says Steve to build up strength by undertaking core exercises.

This could reduce injury, and prevent you from having to spend time in the emergency room or in a hospital ward. It also means that you will be able to return to work without delay.”

"Skiing is quite an all over body action really," Mr Halsall pointed out.

"It is obviously quite heavy on the legs but there is a lot of core and your arms do get some work. A beginners circuit class would do and probably a bit of Pilates and a bit of yoga thrown in for flexibility."

Research conducted for the Post Office showed that many winter sports holiday makers are running the risk of invalidating their international health insurance by heading to the ski slopes the morning after a night of heavy alcohol consumption.

The Off the Job safety awareness programme featuring the characters from the hit TV series The Simpsons is an ideal way of raising employee awareness of the need to prepare for winter sporting activities
