HRD conference speakers announced

Dealing with change, adding value and demonstrating a return on investment are the focus of the programme for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s (CIPD) annual HRD conference and exhibition which is being held at Olympia from 6-7 April 2011.

The conference is described by CIPD as offering a mix of tailored solutions, inspiration, practical advice and tools to tackle current workplace challenges associated with the unprecedented change affecting organisations in every sector. As such, the programme focuses on the learning, networking and benchmarking opportunities needed to help shape the future of organisations through the development of their people.

The conference if organised in five sections

  • learning and talent development,
    organisation development,
leading and managing the L&D function,
    leadership development and
    coaching.

Plus a day that will focus on Hands on Talent, which will give delegates practical tips and advice on creating sustainable high performance cultures and on developing employees in a way that increases motivation and supports business critical needs.

Jackie Orme, Chief Executive, CIPD, said:

"Whether you're working in a private sector looking to emerge strongly as the economy recovers, a public sector wrestling with how to deliver more with less, or a voluntary sector adjusting to the increased demands and reduced funds of these austere times, this is a time when L&D and OD professionals are in great demand.

"The recent recession was not characterised by the almost universal cut-backs in learning budgets that we've seen in the past. This is partly down to the greater degree of alignment between L&D and OD functions and the key drivers and objectives of the business that we see today. Now, as organisations train their sights firmly on the horizon, we can build on that business alignment to contribute directly to the future growth and success of our organisations: by maintaining organisational agility and by developing the talent and leadership capabilities that our organisations will need to thrive, not just today and tomorrow, but in the years to come.

"This year's HRD programme has been designed with these challenges in mind. Whatever your unique people development and business issue, the event will give you everything you need to respond and help shape the future of your organisation through your people, motivating and engaging talent at all levels."
